RWTH University Anniversary 2020

June 20, 2020, Aachen

In 2020, the "Rheinisch-Westphälische Technische Hochschule" - called "Königliche Rheinisch-Westphälische Polytechnische Schule" in 1870, the year it was founded - celebrates its 150th birthday. Under the anniversary motto "Lernen. Forschen. Machen." the birthday of the RWTH and the development of the university was planned to be celebrated throughout the year.

However, the festivities - including the University Festival on June 20 - have to be postponed due to the coronavirus. "We are in a special situation where none of us feel like celebrating. There are many more important things than the birthday of our University at the moment," says the Rector of RWTH, Professor Ulrich Rüdiger. A later edition of the festivities is planned for the future as soon as the situation is more under control.
