RWTH University Anniversary 2020

In 2020, the "Rheinisch-Westphälische Technische Hochschule" - called "Königliche Rheinisch-Westphälische Polytechnische Schule" in 1870, the year it was founded - celebrates its 150th birthday. Under the anniversary motto "Lernen. Forschen. Machen." the birthday of the RWTH and the development of the university will be celebrated throughout the year.
On March 11, 2020, a science evening under the title "The New Fiction of Good Science - in Need of a Paradigm Shift?!" takes place in Berlin. Here the question of the future of the institution "University" will be examined from various perspectives, best practices will be shown, opinions discussed and visions outlined.
On June 19, 2020, a pre-event for the big anniversary celebration will take place. The Alumni Day takes place on Campus Melaten and not only offers insights into the main topics of Production Technology, Energy & Mobility, and Medicine/Medical Technology, but also gives the opportunity to meet alumni associations and faculties in the Alumni Forum. Exciting lectures and events round off the afternoon. A mandatory registration is possible from spring 2020.
The University Festival will take place on June 20, 2020, to which all residents of the city and region of Aachen as well as RWTH members are cordially invited. On this day the RWTH will present itself and offer a variety of opportunities for participation and entertainment.
On October 10, 2020, the day on which the first lecture took place in 1870, RWTH will celebrate the official anniversary ceremony. The event takes place at the C.A.R.L. auditorium and offers a surprising and interactive supporting programme.Copyright: Hochschularchiv
