Dates and Deadlines

The goal of the Urban Planning course of study is to enable graduates to prepare urban plans (formal and informal plans) and responsibilities that accompany planning (management, consulting, urban research). A project oriented curriculum stands at the center of the education, which will be supplemented through a broad range of topics. This includes historical, social, environmental, legal, and economic aspects in urban planning that are important for the development of neighborhoods, cities, and regions. The Master Studies concentrates on the broad tasks of urban planners in the European Economic Area. The combination of designing and planning skills and broad interdisciplinary knowledge combined with proximity to archicteure and landscape archictecture is a particular qualification that can be acquired at our faculty.

Enrollment Prerequisite

Bachelor degree in archictecture, city or spatial planning, or a subject-relevant discipline

Acceptance to the course of study takes place through a portfolio evaluation of the submitted application within the faculty. The process is to determine whether applicants, who did not complete the Bachelor course of study in Architecture at RWTH Aachen, fulfill the prerequisites to be successful in the Urban Planning Master course of study. Students must submit proof of a six month internship. More application information is available on the Faculty's webpage.

Examination Regulations

Regulations that apply for all Bachelor and Master courses of study as well as detailed information about the necessary documentation of required language skills can be found in RWTH’s Comprehensive Examination Regulation. Examination regulations are only published in German as they are legally binding.

Subject Specific Exam Regulations regulate academic goals, the course of study layout, and exam procedures. The appendix to the regulations contains the description of the modules, from which the course of study is composed.
